How VPK Packaging increased HSE engagement with learning games in Wittario

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) are critical focus areas for any business that wants to ensure the well-being of its employees and comply with legal requirements. For VPK Packaging, a global player in packaging, this was no exception. But as many organizations have experienced, keeping HSE training engaging and motivating for all employees can be challenging. When VPK Packaging was to host its HSE day, they chose to partner with Wittario to use learning games as a tool to raise the level of participation and engagement. The result? A successful day that put HSE in the spotlight in a fun and interactive way.

HSE training in a new way

The HR department took a stand in the canteen at VPK Packaging's HSE day. Here, employees came in groups to work together on tasks they were given in learning games on iPads. Two and two teams competed against each other at the same time. HR manager Marthe Falch Pedersen says: "Talking about the company's values, well-being and working environment can often be a bit "fluffy" and difficult. Using Wittario games in this way created a lot of good discussions and engagement around the table."

With Wittario's learning platform, they had the opportunity to try something new. Using the learning game, VPK Packaging was able to create a team building activity in a fun and competitive experience. Wittario's tools made it possible to create a game-based learning experience in which employees could collaborate and compete. By implementing the game on the iPad, the learning experience became accessible and user-friendly for everyone.

Competition as a driver for learning

One of the great advantages of the Wittario platform is the ability to use competitive elements to drive engagement. In collaboration with Wittario, VPK Packaging developed an interactive learning game where employees could compete against each other in tasks that were linked to the company's culture and values. This included quiz questions and reflection exercises. Through the variety of task types, the HR department received many great inputs and images that demonstrated collaboration and job satisfaction.

The competitive element, combined with the opportunity to learn through simple tasks, led to significant engagement in participation. Employees were motivated by the opportunity to compete for points and prizes, while refreshing and expanding their knowledge of HSE and the company's culture.

Positiv erfaring og tilbakemelding fra både ansatte og ledelsen

The management was very happy to be able to get input and images from the activity that they can use in the further work on culture building and strategy. The feedback from VPK Packaging was that Wittario is "Incredibly intuitive and easy to use" and with "fantastic service and help from Wittario" this tempts to repeat! (Marthe Falch Pedersen, HR manager)
