When the War Came to Enebakk - Kirkebygden

In collaboration with the Enebakk history club, the students experienced historical events from World War II in their local environment.

Active learning

The students walked a trail with twelve stations about the war in Ytre Enebakk. Instead of regular teaching, the students received an active and engaging learning method.

Technology meets history in the Wittario-app which guided the students and asked questions along the way.

Student experiences

The students were positive and found it more exciting than regular teaching. They enjoyed learning about local war history where they live.

Important local history

Tom Halvorsen, leader of the Romerike history club, emphasized the importance of place identity and belonging.

Learning in motion

Research shows that movement increases learning ability. Lars Gunnar Fledsberg from Wittario pointed out that you become more creative outdoors.

A success

Marit Busengdal, leader of the Enebakk history club, was pleased and told about an existing game at Mjær.

Wittario's technology is in use in many countries, and the platform is easy to use to create your own learning games.

This course shows how technology and active learning can create engagement in young people.
