A Creative Way to Break Up Digital Learning

Caverion is a full-service construction contractor, specialized in technical disciplines with eight different areas of expertise in which they deliver. They build new, rehabilitate, service and operate existing smart and sustainable buildings.

With 35 departments around the country, over 2,400 employees and the operation and maintenance of over 30,000 construction sites and industrial facilities in 11 European countries, it is important to have relevant and up-to-date training for employees at all times.

The regulations surrounding technical contracts are numerous and burdensome, and HR manager Atle Mørch Sjølie is responsible for facilitating good and correct training programs, so that Caverion always has the necessary expertise, and that all regulations and provisions the company must comply with are followed.

- If we are to succeed in the competition with others, it is the expertise we must compete on.

Caverion has different training for the different levels of skilled workers, in addition to its own training for project managers, managers and safety representatives. They therefore have tailored training for all roles and levels in the company.

- It's simply to have some fun. Do something different, break it up a bit, go out for a walk after sitting and looking at a screen for several hours, and also get learning in this simple, nice way, and also save moment in the next session for learning.

Creative leadership development

We are in a completely new era, and that means that training have also taken on a different form and are done in a different way. We have to do this more digitally than before. Before, there were traditional classroom sessions, so we have had a lot of e-learning throughout, but now we have taken it one step further and run sessions and smaller groups in digital training arenas.

Atle talks about a leadership development program they have created. Here they have chosen to test one module in a digital session over two days. It was when they were discussing how to make the course as interesting and easy to absorb as possible for the participants that Wittario was mentioned as a solution.

After a short presentation from founder Lars Gunnar, the road was short to start testing the app, and since then things have been going fast. After a month, Caverion has managed to create a simple concept that they are implementing in the digital leadership training. After three hours of the course, there is one hour of lunch, and it is during this lunch that Caverion uses Wittario to break up the teaching.

Atle says that the participants were absolutely satisfied with the way of breaking up the training:

- The participants thought it was really good and fun, there was giggling and there was laughter! For the last 6 months of 2021, there is planned to implement a cultural project in all departments to strengthen the company identity of Caverion, as well as make the company's values visible and implemented. Wittario will be a natural element to bring into the decision-making process, to determine which elements should be included in the implementation. We are looking forward to the future of Caverion and Wittario!
