-       It should be free. We don’t require any equipment andmake sure the students have what they need.

Brevik School has been an early adopter of Wittarioand has used it primarily for outdoor school. Christine says that they firsttried with phones, but that they eventually switched to iPads.

-       We saw that not everyone had, or wanted to use, aphone. So we bought a class set of iPads with 4G coverage. We send these withthe students into the forest or down to the lake.

She says that they originally used Wittario with olderstudents, but that all the students now use the game.

-The youngest ones take to it right away too, andthink it’s great fun to take with them outside.

The students are allowed to express themselves and becreative

Vegard Anderson is one of the teachers who has beenwith a class that has tried the QR code games early on.

-       I think it is very nice to see the students beingallowed to express themselves and be creative. I think they learn best thisway.

A group of around 30 students used the QR code game inthe hallways at Brevik School. They ran around to find QR codes to answer tasksand questions.

After the game was completed, the students gathered ina classroom to look at the answers in plenary. There was a lot of laughter andgood answers.

-       I am very satisfied with the day. It is very fun towatch the students play.

QR codes provide more opportunities for games in theclassroom

Although Wittario is designed to be played outdoors, the school sees many advantages in using Wittario with QR codes.

-       We want the students to be active and suddenly it itssuitable to use Wittario. Then it is nice that we can quickly set up a game, orfind a game that already exists.

Although Wittario is designed to be played outdoors,Holm sees many advantages in using Wittario with QR codes, also indoors. Shesays that it may not always be appropriate to take a class or group outside andthat QR codes mean that they can now play indoors if desired.

-       It is a large building. QR codes mean that we can useWittario even more than we do today.

The school wishes to use this even more, both indoorsand outdoors.

Christine Holm says that they hope to be able to useWittario even more in the classroom, both outdoors and indoors.

-       It is very exciting. The students are more motivatedand engaged, concludes Holm.
