Hobøl History Club - History at Knapstad

Approximately 200 people attended to hear First Deputy Chair of the Family and Culture Committee and Member of Parliament Tage Pettersen, conduct the ceremonial opening. He conveyed the value of learning and understanding our local history in a turbulent time.

Present were teachers and students from Knapstad primary and secondary school, history team members, and helpers from the game company Wittario.

Fun to learn outside!

Students are collaborating on the project about Norway's first female station master here at Knapstad.

School outside the classroom

After downloading the Wittario app, group after group of eager youngsters were sent off on a hike. The history club had also created a brochure about the hiking route with a map. Everyone received good instructions on how to use a mobile phone, QR codes, pictures and a quiz test at each post. A new specially made sign with a QR code has now been set up at all posts for information on the post.Introductions to the hiking game were given by Hobøl History Club leader, Asbjørn Hjorthaug.

Hjorthaug was able to say that Hobøl History Club has plans to create more such historical hiking games in other parts of the municipality. Those who want to learn more about these historical places can visit the website: hobolhistorielag.no. Here you will find pictures, text, maps and links to local cultural monuments on the National Agency for Cultural Heritage website: kulturminnesok.no.

Knapstad residents and other historical enthusiasts are encouraged to bring their family, friends and acquaintances and walk this new cultural trail. Knowledge of several thousand years of Knapstad history, local history and stories along the trail are conveyed here.
