How do you create real community, smiles and engagement in a hectic pre-Christmas period?
At Diplom-Is, the desire to bring the organization together in a new and engaging way grew.
The choice fell on a digital Christmas calendar, not only to create Christmas spirit, but to build a bridge between departments and strengthen the internal culture.
Together with Wittario, they developed a solution that was both unifying and inspiring for the entire organization.
One of Norway's most beloved brands - from ice cream to internal culture
Diplom-Is is a name that most Norwegians associate with summer, childhood memories and true ice cream joy. Everyone has a favorite, whether they love Krone-is, Pin-up, Lollipop or Sandwich. But behind the products is a wide range of professionals and functions. With around 500 employees spread across the country, and with a head office and ice cream factory just outside Oslo, they have a diversity of skilled employees and fields of expertise.
December brings with it more than just gingerbread cookies and packing stress - it is also a time when internal culture can get a boost.
Diplom-Is therefore wanted a digital solution that could unite employees, create a Christmas atmosphere and inspire sharing, while also establishing a common space for well-being and interaction in an otherwise busy time.

A Christmas calendar that builds culture and engagement
Together with Wittario, Diplom-Is launched a digital Christmas calendar where all employees, regardless of role or location, could participate. The calendar was published on the intranet and contained a new digital game every day in December until Christmas Eve.
Each slot with games was adapted to Diplom-Is's organization and values, in addition to Christmas-related tasks that provided Christmas spirit.
The tasks could be easily solved on a mobile phone and took only a few minutes - perfect for a small pre-Christmas gift in a busy everyday life.

Easy access, genuine engagement and valuable insight
Wittario is as much a communication platform as it is a learning platform, which means that you can get valuable insight back - whether it's via free text, video or images. This became an important part of the experience for Diplom-Is. During December, they received a lot of feedback from employees, in addition to a number of nice images.
One of the biggest highlights was how the advent calendar facilitated a culture of sharing. Several tasks were about highlighting different areas of expertise in the company. Employees shared insights from their daily work, so that colleagues gained a better understanding of how different parts of the business work. This created both new knowledge and a stronger community.
