Virke turned the exhibition area into an active meeting place

A QR-based exhibitor activity encouraged more attendees to visit stands at Virke Gravferd’s national meeting in Geiranger. Exhibitors also gained an overview of who had stopped by. Around half of the 264 attendees took part in the competition.

Background and challenge

Virke Gravferd held its national meeting on 23–24 May 2025 at Hotel Union in Geiranger. The event brought together 264 attendees and 29 industry exhibitors.

The exhibition area was meant to help attendees discover relevant suppliers, products and services. Virke wanted to give people a clear reason to visit more stands, including those they did not already know.

The organiser also needed a solution that would add little work during the meeting and document visits and answers for exhibitors.

How

Virke

solved the challenge

Wittario gathered content from the 29 exhibitors and created one digital task for each stand. Attendees scanned QR codes, learned about the exhibitors and answered questions in the Wittario app.

✓
Each exhibitor could submit an image or video, brief information about the business or a product, a question and a website link. Wittario collected the material, built the activity and produced one information and quiz task per exhibitor.
✓
A display with a QR code was placed prominently at each stand. Scanning it opened information about the exhibitor and a question. Attendees could find the answer by speaking to the exhibitor, exploring the stand or reading its materials.
✓
Virke planned to name two winners: one drawn from attendees with the most points and another drawn at random from everyone who took part. This rewarded both competitive visitors and general participation.
✓
Wittario handled exhibitor contact, content, tasks, QR codes, stand displays and reporting. Virke introduced the activity to attendees, while answers, points and stand visits were recorded digitally.

From challenge to solution

Wittario collected content directly from all 29 exhibitors and turned it into one digital task for each. Exhibitors could showcase products and services through information, images, video, questions and links.

Each stand received a prominent QR code display. Scanning the code in the Wittario app opened exhibitor information and a question that prompted attendees to explore the stand and start a conversation.

After answering, attendees could move on to the next stand. The competition awarded points for activity, while a random draw among all participants meant people who visited fewer stands also had a chance to win.

Why does this work?

The tasks gave attendees a clear purpose for each stand visit. Rather than simply walking past or picking up a brochure, they were encouraged to stop, explore and speak with the exhibitor.

The competition provided a natural conversation starter and made it easier to approach unfamiliar suppliers. All 29 exhibitors had a place in the activity, helping more businesses gain visibility.

Wittario took care of production and preparation. Virke did not need paper competition forms or manual registration and could focus on the event.

Results and testimonials

The meeting had 264 attendees, and around half joined the competition. All 29 exhibitors had a digital task linked to their own stand.

Answers and stand visits were recorded in Wittario. After the event, Wittario exported reports from Studio showing who had visited each stand, how many had completed the task and what they had answered.
